Bare root season
Apples and pears are generally pruned during the bare root season, the end of November until beginning of April.
Plums, cherries and other stone fruit trees are usually pruned during the summer months to minimise Silver Leaf disease.

Pruning is required to maintain healthy plants and to balance fruiting habit and growth.
Tree Preservation Order
The Council's consent is not required to prune a fruit tree as part of its normal cultivation in a conservation area. Other works to a fruit tree including felling would require a notification.
